The Social Responsibility Working Group (SRWG) is open to all companies within the global outdoor industry supply chain. For more information please email sustainability@outdoorindustry.org.

The OIA Social Responsibility Working Group (SRWG) takes a leadership role in developing fair labor tools, programs, education and communication to stakeholders that will direct sourcing, product life cycle and informed purchasing decisions.

Social Responsibility Working Group Mission

The outdoor industry strives to advance social responsibility awareness, standards, innovation and practices in the outdoor industry value chain, from concept to consumer, through culturally-sensitive:

  • Education and engagement
  • Development and promotion of best practices
  • Measuring and reporting effectiveness of action

Current Scope of Work

The OIA SRWG is focusing on three key workstreams at present:

  1. Development of common fair labor, health and safety code elements to be used within the outdoor industry’s shared global supply chains
  2. Educational programming to provide outdoor companies with guidance on how to start a social responsibility program
  3. Providing input into the development of the social/fair labor indicators for the apparel, footwear and equipment indexes, in conjunction with the Sustainable Apparel Coalition
