Outdoor product sales rose 4.2 percent to $812.7 million in July. The largest increases in July came from the Specialty Internet channel (+19.9 percent) and Mid-Tier Retailers (+17.4 percent). Most other channels posted mid- to high-single-digit-gains for the period, but declines were found in the Other Specialty, Sporting Goods and Mall Retailer channels. Sporting Goods and Mall Retailers are currently in the midst of a very strong athletic cycle in footwear that is also driving accompanying apparel growth. The Independent Outdoor Specialty channel posted a 6.2 percent increase in overall sales in July, while Chain Specialty drove a 7.0 percent increase for the period. |
