15th Annual Rendezvous Service Project Sponsored by Timberland - Kicks-off Monday, September 30 at Noon
Arrive early to join us!
The Rendezvous Service Project is the perfect chance to roll up your sleeves, get dirty and give back to the local community — all while having fun and forming strong bonds with industry colleagues.
This year, in celebration of Timberland’s 15th year sponsoring the event, we’re shaking up the schedule by moving it to the beginning of the conference. Why wait until the last day of Rendezvous for the best networking? Connect right away with other participants and forge deeper connections even before the conference officially kicks off.
This year’s Service Project is going to be fantastic. We’re partnering with WiLDCOAST, an international conservation team that works to conserve coastal and marine ecosystems and wildlife.
As you might know, The Tijuana River Valley (TRV) is one of the largest open space areas in south San Diego County. It provides the “park poor” communities of south San Diego with miles of inter-connecting trails used for hiking, biking and horseback riding. While it’s an ideal area for open space recreational and nature-viewing opportunities, the TRV continues to be underutilized due to large accumulations of trash that cover trails and blanket the riverbeds. Even minor rain events cause uncollected solid waste to cross the U.S.-Mexico border with storm-water flows, carrying trash throughout the area and eventually, into the Pacific Ocean.
Here’s what we’re going to do: Working together, we will help remove 12,000 pounds of debris and 500 waste-tires from impacting the Pacific Ocean and the Tijuana Estuary and valley — home to over 300 bird species —12 of them endangered!
The 15th Annual Rendezvous Service Project sponsored by Timberland will make a significant dent in clearing some of that trash, encouraging greater participation in the outdoors and improving the lives of the people and animals who call the area home. Join us.
